Products constantly move through the supply chain as they are transported from A to B. Suppliers are faced with questions such as; What conditions impact the product and packaging during transport? Will the products and packaging be able to handle those conditions? What type of damage in terms of quality loss or product failure is to be expected based on the current design? A range of variables such as vehicle type, handling, road type, distance covered and warehouse storage combined these factor determine the impact of transport on products and packaging. Unfortunately, not all of these factors can be eliminated. However, it is possible to protect and to design products in such a way to prevent them from sustaining damage during transport. Cost reduction Through optimization we can save up to 30% on costs related to packaging, transport, and damages for products and packaging. Shock and vibration performance can be improved without increasing costs through the proper design of your product or packaging. Transport shipment testing In order to determine impact of environmental factors on products and packaging during transport Sebert utilizes two main test methods: o Data recording o Transport simulation Transport routes are measured several times using a data recorder. The data recorder registers for example the (random) vibration levels of shocks and impacts at fixed time intervals. The analyzed data can be used directly for shaker control. The shaker can reproduce multiple transports from A to B accurately and reliably, making it possible to compare test results of the different packaging, products, and modifications. Using test equipment, we can run transport simulations (including climate control) which allow designers and manufacturers to develop new packaging and products. The test results are analyzed by our experts and when necessary, they advise on product or packaging improvement.
